Short description of the working group
The European Green Deal and the ongoing development of Sustainable Finance regulation aim to direct capital flows more strongly towards sustainable and impact-oriented investments. Regulatory frameworks such as SFDR, the EU Taxonomy, CSRD, and CRR III are reshaping the requirements for financial market participants and continue to evolve through new guidelines and regulatory initiatives at European and national level.
For impact investors, these developments create both new opportunities and practical challenges — particularly in private capital markets and impact-oriented investment strategies.
The BVII Working Group on Regulation provides a practical platform for exchange on current regulatory developments related to sustainable finance and impact investing. The group aims to strengthen a shared understanding of impact investing, develop professional positions, and foster constructive dialogue between markets, policymakers, regulators, and civil society.
In addition, the working group contributes regulatory perspectives as a cross-cutting theme to the broader work of BVII. Together, members develop impulses for forward-looking regulatory conditions that strengthen impact investing as an effective approach for directing capital towards social and environmental transformation.
The working group views regulation not only as a compliance issue, but also as a strategic lever for mobilising capital with measurable impact.
