Impact investing as multifaceted as the region itself
The Northern Germany Chapter of BVII represents a pragmatic and business-oriented perspective on impact investing. As a regional platform for collaboration and exchange, it connects actors working on sustainable transformation and impact-oriented capital allocation.
Hamburg and the broader Northern German region combine economic strength with growing innovation momentum. Industry, logistics, trade, and finance intersect with an expanding ecosystem of startups, impact investors, and sustainable finance initiatives. This combination makes the region a particularly relevant environment for impact investing and sustainable transformation.
The chapter brings together companies, investors, academia, non-profit organisations, and intermediaries to exchange perspectives and develop practical approaches to social and environmental challenges. Topics range from impact measurement and shareholder engagement to artificial intelligence, democracy, and regenerative business models.
The chapter is also closely connected to regional initiatives and institutions, including Impact Hub Hamburg, Zebra Investment Night, Finance City Hamburg, and the Sustainable Finance Research Group at the University of Hamburg. A particular focus lies on the transformation of existing business models and the development of viable future-oriented structures.
