Starkmacher Impact (SMI) is developing a flagship impact investment project at Nyeri Hill Farm, one of Kenya's largest coffee farms, integrating solar energy generation, water electrolysis and industrial value creation into a fully integrated Power-to-X (PtX) system. The project was developed in cooperation with UNIDO, the German Development Agency (GIZ) under its Project Development Programme for Green Hydrogen Projects (PDP-H2), and the Archdiocese of Cologne. It demonstrates how impact investing can finance systemic transformation in agriculture and food systems across the Global South.

The Offene Schule Köln (Open School Cologne) has provided highly individualised education for approximately 650 students since 2022 and positions itself as an inclusive educational institution integrating diverse pedagogical approaches and learning pathways. The construction of a new school campus and expansion to a total area of 11,310 square metres created an additional 263 school places while prioritising environmentally sustainable construction methods and resource-efficient operations. The project aims to improve access to inclusive education and promote equal opportunities for all learners, regardless of their educational needs or socio-economic background.
